Haiti - Let Us Be the Only Masters of the Soil

An ongoing project documenting the impact of violence in Haiti, begun in 2023 as escalating gang warfare in Port-au-Prince forced hundreds of thousands from their homes. Video accompanying the project, which gathers testimony from displaced people, gangs, political activists, vigilante groups, and religious leaders caught in Haiti’s conflict can be watched here. As part of the project I also conducted a full-length interview with Jimmy "Barbecue" Chérizier, considered one of Haiti's most powerful and ruthless gang leaders, who is now seeking an active role in the country's political future, which can be viewed in full here.
